Neptune wins 2016 Boys U17 Billy Kelly Tournament

Neptune has won Cork Men’s Basketball Board Boys U17 Billy Kelly Tournament after defeating Templeogue in the final on 26-Mar-2016 in the Parochial Hall, Gurranabraher. Neptune were Pool D winners after the first day of the tournament. Blue Demons was another Cork team that qualified after the group stage. Both Cork teams met in the quarter-final with Neptune progressing into the next round after 65-51 victory over their local rivals. Following a victory of Drogheda in the semi-final Neptune faced Pool D runner-up Templeogue in the final game of the tournament. The Cork club maintained a lead at the end of the first three quarters but the Dublin side was gradually reducing the gap. It was just 1 point between the two teams with 4 minutes remaining in the game. At the end Neptune team held its nerve to claim 52–44 win. Templeogue’s Kris Arcilla was named Tournament MVP.
