Blue Demons coached by Jim O’Sullivan and Brian Horgan were victorious in the Count Cork Basketball Board Boys U12 Tournament held in the Parochial Hall on 19-Mar-2016. Demons topped the pool after wins over Carrigaline and Moycullen of Galway. In the semi finals, Demons played Killarney Cougars in what was a very tight game that saw Demons victorious 43-35. Demons played Maree of Galway in the final. The Galway side went into an early 9-2 lead but Cork’s team gathered itself to lead 15-14 at the end of the first quarter. Demons pushed the tempo to lead 31-21 at half time and scoring rate continued in the 3rd quarter: Demons led 46-25 after some great defense and fast break basketball. A great team performance was topped off in the 4th quarter as Demons continued scoring and won 59-35. Congratulations to Blue Demons on a great team performance throughout the day and the season itself: Blue Demons Boys U12 continued their unbeaten season after earlier season victories in a Limerick pre-season and Championship; Demons Boys U12 were also undefeated in the league.
