APPENDIX ‘A’
UNDER 13, 12 & 11
LEAGUE, CHAMPIONSHIP, TOP FOUR & TOURNAMENT RULES
1. In order to play in any age group a player must be under the age on the 1st of January of the current season. (1st Jan 2009) and must be registered with the board for the team they are playing on.
2. Games should be played in four 7 – 10 minute quarters if possible.
3. The minimum number of players must be 10 up to and including U.13 competitions.
A). There are a maximum number of 15 players on a panel
B). In the event of a team having less than 10 players for a game, the team will lose the game by default.
C). The team with less than 10 players is awarded 1 point.
D). Where 2 teams have less than 10 players the game must be played and each team is awarded 1 point.
E). Where a team is reduced to less than 10 players after the game has started (e.g. injury), the game will proceed with the reduced number of players in the relevant quarters. The result of the game counts.
4. Up to and including U.13 any player who plays in the 1st quarter may not play in the 2nd quarter including substitute.
5. No Full court defence in the front court is allowed on any dead ball (i.e. after the referees whistles), or after a score, in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters. The defence must wait for the ball to cross the half way line.
6. Coaches are encouraged to play man to man defence only to ensure the proper technical development of young players.
7. Time Out, FIBA rule applies. Two time-outs may be granted to each team at any time during the first half; three at any time during the second half and one during each extra period.
8. 4 team fouls per quarter, 5 personal fouls per game.
9. Players will be allowed to participate in any competition in accordance to the year the player was born as follows:

10. A player may only play in a maximum of 2 year groups within his age band in any one season. E.g. a player aged U.11 and U.12 or U.11 and U.13. He cannot play U.11, U.12 and U.13. No player under 15 years of age an the 1st January of the current season may take part in the Junior National Cup (U.18).
11. Shots taken from beyond the three point line will only be recorded as two (2) points when successful
In all games for U.13 and below.
12. The basketball ball size at under age competition is as follows.
Under 12 downwards size 5
Under 13 size 6
Under 14 upwards size 7
