CORK COUNTY BASKETBALL BOARD
UNDER 14, 13, 12 & 11 LEAGUE, CHAMPIONSHIP, TOP FOUR & TOURNAMENT RULES
1. In order to play in any age group a player must be under the age on the 1st of January of the current season. (1st Jan 2008) and must be registered with the board on the team they are playing on.
2. No player under ten (10) years on the 1st January 2008 is permitted to play at Under 14.
3. No player under nine (9) years on the 1st January 2008 is permitted to play at Under 12.
4. No player under eight (8) years on the 1st January 2008 is permitted to play at Under 11 ‘A’.
5. No player under seven (7) years on the 1st January 2008 is permitted to play at Under 11 ‘B’
6. At the start of each game each team must be a minimum number of ten (10) players present and listed on the score sheet for all games at Under 13, 12 and 11. A team that has less than ten (10) players at the start of a game will lose the game by default. (The game must be played).
7. Teams that play a game with less than ten (10) players will be awarded one (1) point in the league tables.
8. Leagues tables will be calculated as follows. Three (3) points for a win. One (1) point for a loss or default and no points for a walkover.
9. If two (2) teams play one another with less than ten (10) players in any game. Both teams will be awarded one (1) point in the league tables.
10. Any player who plays in the first quarter may not play in the second quarter. A different five players must play in the 2nd quarter. Substitutions may be allowed in the 1st and 2nd quarter, but, any player that has played in the 1st quarter may not play in the 2nd quarter. A team found not to have complied with this rule will forfeit the game and no points will be awarded in the league standing. (This rule applies to under 13, 12 & 11).
11. No full court defence in the front court or on any inbound ball, or after the inbound pass, in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters is permitted. The defence must wait for the ball to cross the half way line. Full court press is permitted in the last quarter. (This rule applies to teams playing at fewer than 14, 13, 12 & 11).
12. No zone defence is permitted.
13. No three point score shall be allowed. Two points only will be awarded for a three point score at Under 13, 12 & 11.
14. At under eleven (11) and twelve (12) the size 5 ball shall be used and at under thirteen (13) and fourteen (14) the size 6 ball shall be used.
15. All games shall be played with four (4) quarters of seven minutes duration per quarter on the clock.
16. At Under 13, 12 & 11 the score sheet shall be completed prior to the commencement of the game listing all players that will compete in the game. The team coach must indicate the starting five players in the 1st and 2nd quarters by placing a √ after the name of the players selected to play.
17. A player playing and registered on a clubs ‘B’ Team may play on the clubs ‘A’ Teamfor two games only without loosing their ‘B’ team status. The players ‘B’ Team Registration Number must be entered on the score sheet in all such cases. (This rule applies only to under 12 & 11 Leagues games).
18. No more than three (3) ‘B’ Team players may play on an ‘A’ Team in a league game.
19. Should two or more teams finish level with the same number of points in the league competition the teams will be considered the winners and will share the title? (No play – off will take place).
