Cork U14 Girls travelled to Belfast on the June weekend to play in the SHEEHOOPS tournament.

On Saturday their first game was with Dublin and it was a thriller. Dublin won the game by a point on the buzzer.

Second game was against our hosts Basketball Northern Ireland. A convincing win gave the team the win they needed after their game with Dublin.

Third game saw Scotland 2 find the Cork girls growing in confidence .  Another victory saw the team end the day in confident mood.

Sunday morning had Scotland 1 as our opponents and we needed a win to qualify for the final. A slow start made way for another good display and a deserve victory.

A final against Dublin gave the Cork girls a chance to make amends for Saturday’s defeat. Once again both teams gave the spectators a final that went down to to the wire. The end of the game had everyone on their feet and emotional scenes saw Cork celebrate the narrowest of victory’s.

The hard work put into the preparation for the tournament by players and mentors was rewarded with a tremendous display by the entire squad over the weekend culminating in victory.
