Cork clubs to play in 2016 Boys U18 National Shield quarter-finals

Ballincollig and Blue Demons Boys U18 teams progressed into the quarter-finals of 2016 National Shield competition. Ballincollig defeated Limerick Lakers 87-73 on 14-Feb while Blue Demons had an excellent victory over Dublin’s Killester on 21-Feb. Ballincollig to play Kildare Gliders in the next round while Blue Demons will face Phoenix BC.
Blue Demons Boys U18 coached by Conor Deasy, Shane Coughlan and David Brickley pushed hard from the start and lead 15-4 after 6 minutes. Killester came back into it to trail 22-15 at the end of the 1st quarter. After some excellent passing and cuts to the basket, Blue Demons continued to increase the lead 45-32. Cork team continued to keep the scoring momentum going as they hustled hard to lead 64-49 end of the 3rd. Demons maintained the pressure on to run out winners on a scoreline of 81-66.
